User Story Mapping is an agile technique – we can call it methodology even – that product teams can use for the following:

• Visualize the user’s journey through the product. Build a map that describes how the user uses the product when read from top to bottom and left to right.
• Help the product team and the stakeholders understand the user’s goals and how the product helps the user achieve those goals. This shared understanding comes from people talking about things on the map.
• Identify missing and unclear information and find the points where the product doesn’t work as it should.
• Plan releases by setting a clear goal and selecting the stories the team must complete to reach this goal.
